Message the research I did here before I bought the GT525's seemed like a good choice and I still think they are. I hear stories from people who have bought or paid for rebuilds from turbo shops all over and regardless of who supplies them there always seems to be a chance of seal issues.
What amazes me is that in this day and age why isn't there a great quality seal that everyone uses? I can't imagine the price difference between the best and the worst is more than $10 per seal max. So why would anyone use anything but the best when it is such a small percentage of the total cost?
One lost sale would more than wipe out a years savings for using the defective seals.

As I understand it, for the most part, all aftermarket turbos are essentially remanufactured. Folks modify the stock housings and either rebuild or replace the CHRA's. If so the seal issue really goes back to the manufacturer of the CHRA or the rebuild kit. I can't see where Z1 would be any different than JWT or anyone else if the builder is experienced. (Of course I could be wrong).

So I will wait to hear what they come up with. I should know this week. Z1 says it is just a few days turnaround on the rework.
